Why Bookwise?

Posted by: Tim Finucane   in About Myself

Why network marketing? This is the first question many people ask when they find out I’m a Bookwise associate. For most they assume that the answer is to make quick money. But that is absolutely not the reason I decided to do this. Yes, the long term goal is to be able to make money from it, but in the short term there are some other objectives.

Training

I am not a very good salesman, and I frequently find myself shying away from anything to do with sales. For someone who wants to start his own businesses this is not a good thing. Selling is essential for a business owner, whether you’re pitching someone for financing, or selling your product to prospective clients/customers, there is no way to avoid sales. Network marketing is very much about sales, and Bookwise offers a good deal of training.

Besides the training, there is also the opportunity to get past the fear of rejection. Let’s face it, most of us absolutely hate being rejected. And sales and rejection go hand in hand. The only sure fire way I know how to get past that is to toughen your outer skin by facing rejection over and over. And, as you gain confidence from your successes you will learn how to qualify people better, so that you can face fewer rejections in the future. This is probably one of the primary fears most people have trouble with. In network marketing you will face rejection, and this is the opportunity to get past that fear.

People Helping People

Network Marketing does not work if you are unwilling to help your fellow associates. Network marketing has to be about helping those below you reach their goals. This provides an opportunity for you to learn more about leadership. And for me, the more I can learn about leadership the better. I truly want to help people improve their life and reach their goals. I believe that it will all come back to me in the future.

Books

Well, this was a no-brainer for me. I love books and I love to read. My ability to learn from the sales training will go more smoothly if I am passionate about what I’m selling. And the free e-book and audio classic downloads are a nice touch as well.

Charity

Bookwise is giving $1 from my monthly fee and 1% of all book purchases go to charity. It doesn’t sound like a huge amount, but the more people who get involved the more this will grow. It’s a nice to know that at least something of what you pay for the program is going to help someone else. At the time of this writing the charity who benefits from this is Operation Kids.

Overall, I think that the investment required to be a Bookwise associate is a minimal risk to test the Network Marketing waters and get a good deal of valuable training in return. Even if I don’t make a fortune off this I believe I will learn enough about marketing and sales to make it useful to my other business ventures.

Are You Bookwise?

Posted by: Tim Finucane   in About Myself

Welcome to my Bookwise Independent Associate web site. I have begun this new business with the goal of building a new stream of income. It has become clear to me that the old idea of having a steady paycheck and a secure job no longer exists. Having multiple streams of income will help me eliminate the potential risks of loosing any one source of money. I simply cannot take such risks now that I have a family. And besides, building your own business is less risky than relying on someone else’s business for your paycheck, at least in my mind; I’m sure plenty of people will disagree with me.

So why Bookwise? Well, it just seemed like a no-brainer to me. The investment is pretty low, and I love books. the initial signup fee was $39.95 which included the startup kit. Then each month I invest another $39.95, but for that monthly fee I get a slew of benefits including a hardcover book of my choice and lots of training on how to build my new business. All of it worth more than the monthly fee. And compared with other network marketing businesses I am not required to purchase and store any stock of product; it’s all done online through my bookstore. Compared to what it would cost me to build my own bookstore store this is a small investment.

So why join a network marketing business? Good question. Like everyone else, I used to think badly of network marketing and thought the people involved a bunch of suckers who would loose all their money, and eventually their friends and family. And of course this was true for many people who tried, and still try, to run a network marketing business. The problem here is that I just went off all the opinions of other people and never took a serious look at it. But after careful consideration and some research I have changed my mind about network marketing. I believe the reason most people fail at network marketing has nothing to do with the system itself; it has to do with the poor training they receive and incorrect information they are given by their upline. I’ll go into this a little further in a future blog post. Let’s just say that if done right and ethical you do not have to have a list of names and pester every friend and family member you know. And if you understand that it is not a get rich quick business, that it takes quality time and effort, the future residual income can become substantial. I am committing to at least 3 years of solid effort before I officially decide if this is for me.

So, with this blog you can following this new venture and see how well I do. I will be attempting to post on a regular basis and discuss some of the marketing & sales methods I am learning, as well as updates about the growth and changes of Bookwise. And occasionally I’ll post reviews of books I’m reading.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope to talk to you soon.
